Jeanie & Dave’s Wedding
Friday, May 7, 2004, 6:00 pm
Forrest Hills, Dahlonega, Georgia
Welcome to Jeanie & Dave’s Wedding Website! In addition to information you need to plan your attendance, we hope to give you a feel for the event we have in mind. We want to share these ideas with you to both get you excited and to invite your suggestions. This get‐together is about us all, so let’s make it great!
Every culture has their wedding traditions, and we, being a bit of a culture unto our own, have come to our own wedding concept. There is no doubt in our hearts and minds that we are an inseparable pair; marriage makes this easier for others to recognize. We want our wedding to celebrate not only this special kind of dedication, but the ties shared amongst family and friends as well. Quick words exchanged with the ones we love on a frantic wedding day would not do. Therefore, we look to this occasion as a reunion, with time dedicated to remembering and strengthening the connections we share.
We chose to have this wedding event in the north Georgia mountains for the following reasons.
What we have in mind is:
The Tree Topper Lodge at Forrest Hills (our lodge) opens for check‐ins. Guests may settle‐in and get ready for the wedding.
Picture time for the wedding party.
Wedding Ceremony at Forrest Hills Outdoor Wedding Pavilion, only a quarter mile from our lodge.
In case of inclement weather, ceremony will be held in Forrest Hills Fox Hollow Wedding Chapel right next to the Pavilion.
Reception at Forrest Hills Rose Hall Reception Room. Dinner & Dancing!
A southern breakfast buffet for all lodge guests at the Hideaway Dining Room, right near our lodge.
Fun time with Family and Friends. A leisurely day creating memories. Possibilities:
We will provide snacks and lunch.
Dinner for lodge guests at Hideaway Dining Room, right near our lodge.
Possibilities:
A southern breakfast buffet for all lodge guests at Hideaway Dining Room
Farewell goodbyes
To spend time with our families and friends, we have reserved the Tree Topper Lodge for Friday (wedding day) and Saturday (reunion day). This is a private group lodge with 16 large rooms. We think that being all together in one place will be great and hope everyone will stay there.
Each room has two extra‐long full size beds, a sitting area with full‐sized sleeper sofa, private bath, and a balcony. We imagine family and friends going in on a room together for economy and fun.
Breakfast buffet Saturday and Sunday and dinner Saturday night at the Hideaway Dining Room near the lodge are included with your two day stay at the lodge.
Included in the rate is the following.
Rooms must be reserved for both nights and paid in full by April 22, 2004. To reserve, contact Kathy Major at 1‑800‑654‑6313.
Forrest Hills also has 29 private cabins with hot tubs, 12 luxury suites in their Mountain Laurel Inn, and 4 rooms in their Wilderness Lodge each with private entrances. More information about these lodging options can be found at their website or by calling them at 1‑800‑654‑6313.
On your way to/from the resort, you may need to stay somewhere. Here are some pointers to get you started.
We have no specific recommendations. An online travel website or travel agent may provide the best rates. If you would like to stay in our neighborhood, we live in Midtown Atlanta on the corner of North Ave and Peachtree St. Many of the hotels around us are easily accessible by the MARTA light‐rail trains which can be taken directly from the airport ($1.75 one way).
We hope people flying into Atlanta and needing to rent a car can carpool. Everything at the resort is within walking distance. The following companies are available at the Atlanta Airport.
The resort is an hour and a half north of Atlanta. This easily turns into 2 and a half hours during Friday rush hour which starts around 2pm. Please keep this in mind when planning your arrival.
You can use the interactive map and direction service provided by MapQuest by clicking on the map below.
About the attire… The ceremony will (hopefully) be outside, and Georgia is warm that time of year. Feel free to dress up for the ceremony and reception, but don’t sacrifice your comfort. The rest of the resort if very rustic, so no need to dress up there.
The informational insert provided with the invitations, containing a subset of this page’s information but conveniently formated as a single, double‐sided, fold in half page, is available here should you want another.
Your attending is an expensive effort, and we are thankful for this best wedding gift that is your presence. Should you feel compelled to give a little something else, we have registered for some niceties with the following retailers.
