We've been on the bus now for over three hours, from Kanchanaburi destined for Ayuthaya. It has seemed a bit long, Jeanie's been uncomfortably warm, I'm trying to be good and write a little something. People are so helpful, there was a possibly troublesome bus transfer in Sephanburi that we were graciously guided through.

Okay, the following paragraphs are a quick catch-up.

Four days ago, when we arived in Kanchanaburi, on our way back from the wat, we were given a ride in the back of a local's pickup truck, saving us a lenthy bus ride.

Two days ago we made a day trip to the Erawan falls, where we saw wild monkeys, met up with two Brits and a Chilean, and hiked and swam around amazing falls that grew and changed into stranqe forms as the water depsites, what I guessed to be, desolved limestone.

Dave and friend at Erawan Falls #7.

Yesterday, almost left town but decided to stay another day. Why not? Rented a motorbike and went cruising the country side. Went to a department store decorated in holiday cheer (Christian carols, snow flakes, I wonder what the people make of it?) where Jeanie scored a cool shirt.

We're now in Ayuthaya, a bit of an island city as rivers flow around it, and a destination for its many temple ruins. So far we aren't impressed, but we did find a nice place to stay, after passing up some sketchy ones. Today is upkeep day as we hand over laundry to be done and shave with our shower.

It's been just over a week now, but it feels like a month, and its great! Each day is so full, even the laziest of them. This week mark feels significant, like we've washed the fresh tourist smell off and lathered up on a little travel wise stink. Many day to day routines such as walking the steets (there's a lot to get used to there), using the toilet, and paying for a meal, are not the adventure they once were. We now feel more powerful, like now we can do what we really want.

Our, always rough, plan for now is to stay west, and slowly make our way north to Chang Mai for the New Year (yes, it looks like they celebrate our calender too). Both natives and travelers have had good things to say about Chang Mai, city fun, but unlike Bangkok, clean, and not so crazy. We figured a city would have a good show of events for the holiday, and it's close to the Loas border, which we plan to jump before our visa expires January 8th.

Oh yeah, I noticed too that some of the pictures I've uploaded are sideways. I thought I could re-orient them with the software on my PDA, but was mistaken. I'll fix them when we get back.
