Young women attending university wear uniforms of white blouses and navy blue skirts. You can also determine their year by looking at their uniform. First year girls wear long skirts with white socks. Second years do not wear socks. Third year girls get to wear short skirts.

Traffic in Bangkok is crazy to say the least. Motorcycles are a major form of transportation swerving in and out of traffic at speeds I would only do on a highway. People can hire drivers and ride on the back of these bikes to get from one part of town to another. This is a sight! The riders do not hold on to anything and just use their balance during the crazy trip.

Now picture this - on our way to the train station, as we were holding on for dear life in the back of a cab, we see one of the afore mentioned school girls riding side saddle on the back of one of the bikes, holding school books in one hand and sipping a beverage out of a straw in the other - AND - they sped by us.

Karaoke is very popular in Asia and we've seen a little first hand. In a park in downtown Bangkok, they have pavillions scattered around equiped with a karaoke machine. As we walked by two such pavillions on a Wednesday afternoon, both were in use. In a restaurant at a Western hotel, the mood was set by a woman entertaining the tourists as they ate by karaoke'ng to English love songs.
